How to succeed with your Salesforce implementation?

Salesforce Implementation and Development

Complexity with Salesforce Implementation starts with different options and terms

Earlier this week I sat through a retrospective session for a complex Salesforce Implementation project we just wrapped up. The client gave us the NPS rating of 8.5 out of 10 (which I think is great). However, as we all looked back at the project, the memories of good, bad and ugly were refreshed. And both sides made recommendations on what we as a Salesforce Development Organization and Client teams could do differently next time to avoid some of the pain points.

The retrospective reminded me that there is a common set of learning that apply to any complex Salesforce Implementation project. In this article I am sharing my learning that are based on the projects that we managed and from the learning that our clients have shared with us.  Continue reading

Lightening Process Builder

A quick look at the “Lightening Process Builder”.

Overview

People in salesforce world uses automated processes a lot. We all know that almost each and every CRM of salesforce has a workflow associated with it. Workflow assists in assigning several actions like sending emails, sending outbound messages, assigning tasks to other users and updating fields based on rule criteria and evolution criteria and sometimes based on specified time as well. But to make the automation process easier, a new process came into the picture – “Lightening Process Builder”. This provides a graphical representation of the process a person builds. In other words, we can call it a type of visual workflow.

View State

View State:  As the name suggests, is an error of View State. “Maximum view state size limit (135KB) exceeded” is the error message pertaining to “View State” error and here follows a brief detailing of the issue.

View state holds the state/size of the visual force page that includes the components, field values and controller state. This is important in the light that salesforce provides only a standard size of 135kb for any individual page. If the size of a particular page exceeds 135kb, the page will throw a view state error.

Dynamic Gauge in salesforce

Salesforce provide us standard functionality to create Reports and dashboards to represent record in diagrammatic form. Sometimes we face the requirement to represent our data in diagrammatic Form on visual force page in some specific type of diagram we represent it using chart. Salesforce provide us Bar chart, Pie chart, Gauge chart, Radar charts

Here I am going to explain how we can represent specific field data in the form of gauge chart. To achieve this requirement we need four things basically. First we should have an object whether its standard or custom object, a field associated with that object that should hold any numeric Value, apex controller, apex class.

I will start with object lets say I have a standard controller Account where I have a custom field Score and I need to represent that score in the form of gauge. Whenever page loads that value represent in the form of gauge and whenever the fields value changes the gauge should reflect that Change.

Salesforce Duplicate Records Management Tools

Data is the most valuable asset of an organization and good data quality is absolutely priceless. As evident from the analysis, bad data is one of the top reason for the failure of a CRM project as it provides you incomplete, in accurate and confusing information and thereby misleading the management into making an incorrect decision.

Duplicate data in salesforce is one of the major reason of bad data quality and it sucks the life out of an effective salesforce by clogging the organization’s work system. It hampers the efficiency, performance and of course the profitability of the organization. Rather than utilizing time in converting the new lead, the sales reps time gets wasted on working on the duplicate leads resulting in lower efficiency.
